Poetic. Soulful. Chic. Intentional. Nostalgic. Artful. Real.

My approach to photography

I believe that wedding days are best captured when artistry is prioritized over industry standards. This means that I don't consider myself to be strictly a "bright and airy" or "dark and moody" photographer. My work is true to life - both in color and in the way that I find inspiration from the light that we are naturally given. Your wedding gallery will showcase a wide range of images that truly feel like the moment when they were captured. It would be such a disservice to try to force a photo to be anything other than what was really seen with your own eyes. Your photos should match your memories of your wedding day.

In addition to serene sunsets and well lit portraits, below you will also find examples of shadows playing a role in storytelling, the way windows that offer a truly cinematic element to your getting ready photos, candlelit moments that artfully portray the emotional tone of the day, and a few times when harsher direct flash helped to accentuate the fun that was had during the reception.

My approach to posing

On a wedding day, I am both observational an intentional. It is imperative to not interfere too much with how moments and reactions naturally unfold. It is my job to predict when and where these interactions will happen so that they can be authentically photographed.

Flower girls twirling in their dresses without me having to ask, the bridal party watching first looks from windows, looking in the mirror one last time before heading down the aisle, parents shedding tears watching the first dance, glasses clinking after toasts, grandparents will often be seen retreating to a quiet table during the reception to enjoy a cake break, ladies leaving high heels behind to allow for better dance moves, and couples sharing a "we did it!" kiss during the last song of the night. These are only a few things that my team and I look for.

The few times during the day when light posing is expected, I give clear direction and encourage you to improvise. Sneak kisses, cuddles, and whisper inside jokes anytime! I strive to ensure that portraits are peaceful and fun. Rigid is not my thing. Even my more editorial styled poses still have softness that makes your photos feel real. If the moment isn't totally candid, it is at the very least comfortable.

Moody and cinematic but also ...

... traditional and timeless
